The Land

We live & farm on leased land.
We steward it as if it were our own land.
Pasture Revivalization

We work to revitalize our pastures using:

-animal integration to redistribute nutrients

-the Yeoman's plow to increase drought resilience in the soil & increase forage production

-prescribed mowing to combat non-native invasives & increase density

-& pasture underseeding to increase diversity

Farmland Reclamation

The land we lease is a large old dairy farm outlined & bisected by stonewalls, giving us a glimpse of what was.

The parts of the forest that were the most recently abandoned fields, easily became choked out with non-native invasives.

Some of our work includes using a forestry mulcher to reclaim lost fields & free existing trees & native shrubs from the oppressive invasives.

Animal Integration

The sheep are integrated into our whole farm system.  We manage a mixed flock of sheep that excel at very efficiently converting plant material into lambs, meat, & wool.

They graze pasture, but also browse higher growth of non-native invasive vines & shrubs.

Along with mechanical clearing, they are an integral part of our land management system.
